The Gollcher Bequest

A Maltese Legacy in London

Part of the Palazzo Falson 10th Anniversary Seminar: A Decade of Palazzo Falson - Recent Research

Lecture by Tom Foakes

The Museum of the Order of St John is a hidden jewel in London, and its home in St John’s Gate is an historic legacy of the Order’s medieval origins.  Charting the story of the Order through revolts and revolutions, war and peace, the Museum also has a unique and fascinating link to the Gollcher family and to the Palazzo Falson. Exploring these connections, the Museum of the Order of St John’s Director, Tom Foakes, will reveal how Olof Gollcher’s generosity made an enduring impression on this historic London landmark, and how the Palazzo Falson’s ownership could have taken a very different path.
