A Surprising Collection of Historic Malta Maps

Delivered on 28th November 2020 at Palazzo Falson Historic House Museum, in collaboration with the Malta Map Society.

In November 2019 Joseph Schirò, Honorary Secretary of the Malta Map Society, researcher and collector of maps delivered a lecture titled ‘A Surprising Collection of Historic Malta Maps’. The lecture explored Olof Gollcher’s ensemble of antique and unusual maps of Malta and Valletta from the period of the Knights of the Order of St John up to the 20th century. The lecture was followed by a talk by long-time volunteer, Jan Beunderman, who spoke in further detail about the most important maps found in the collection.
